Five people were hospitalized after a tire blowout caused a rollover accident on Highway 281.

According to police officials, the accident occurred just after 5 p.m. when, officials believe, the tire on a Chevrolet Suburban blew out and caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The SUV then flipped and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop.

One person was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash. Five of the vehicle’s occupants were taken to McAllen Medical Center to be treated. Updates on their condition have not yet been released.
