Early this morning in Aurora, Colorado a two-car rollover accident left a mother and her infant child with serious injuries. The accident occurred near the intersection of East Lehigh Avenue and Parker Road.
An Aurora Police Department spokesperson stated that the driver of a Jeep rear-ended a Dodge Caliber on Parker Road while traveling north at excessive speeds. The impact of the accident caused both the Jeep and the Dodge Caliber to roll. The driver of the Jeep became airborne as a result of the accident, and sustained severe injuries.
The mother and her five-week old infant were inside the Dodge Caliber when the vehicle overturned. Paramedics were able to tend to the child inside a car seat at the scene of the accident. Both mother and child were transported to a hospital to be treated for their injuries. Their current status has not been released at this time.
Debris from both vehicles littered the southbound and northbound side of Parker Road. The spokesperson for the police department revealed that the northbound side of Parker Road was closed during morning commuting hours while police investigated the rollover accident.
