American automaker giant General Motors (GM) is recalling over 48,000 sedan and SUVs to fix a faulty seat belt, GM Authority reported on September 17.
In the recall documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), previous models of Buick Encore compact SUVs and Cadillac ATS sedans manufactured from 2012-2013 have a lap belt pretensioner cable that may fail to lock. Drivers and driver’s side occupants of the affected vehicles may have an increased risk of suffering serious injuries in an accident. Owners of the recalled vehicles will receive notifications from the automaker for instructions on how to replacement of the faulty part.
Vehicle owners and their loved ones unfortunately suffer serious or even fatal injuries if the safety features of their vehicle failed to work in the event of an accident.
