Another recall has occurred for Kia and this one involves nearly 73,000 models of the Rio because of an airbag defect.
The vehicles involved in the recall include Rios that were manufactured from February 2005 to December 2007 after it was found that an airbag defect could exist. The defect may occur if the occupant sensor mat fails crack.
This then would prevent the airbag system from knowing a child was in the passenger seat or not and will fail to deploy in a car accident. Kia has stated that they will begin to notify individual Rio owners that own a car affected by the recall in July 2012.
