As reported by WISH-TV Channel 8, the westbound lanes of US 40 were temporarily shut down after a semi-truck rolled over near County Road 850 in Putnam County, Indiana. The truck was being used to haul nearly 20,000 pounds of gravel.
Just prior to the accident, the Indiana State Police indicated they believe the truck was traveling in an eastbound lane when the front driver’s side tire blew out. The driver is then believed to have lost control of the vehicle as it veered into the median and then rolled into the westbound lanes of US 40. The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and was not seriously injured.
