A total of 16,091 Ford vehicles in the US are being recalled by its manufacturer to fix seatbelts that may potentially malfunction, a report by Ford stated on January 28.
The automaker explained that the seatbelt fasteners of the affected Ford Transit Connect vans may become less effective over time because the fasteners may not have been tightened sufficiently. The vans reportedly were manufactured from November 2013 until September last year. The seatbelt defect may increase the risk of injuries during accidents. Ford also said that they were unaware of any injuries or crashes involving the Transit Connect vans before the recall was issued. Ford dealers will fix the seatbelt fasteners of the affected vehicles for free.
