A woman was trapped in her car after a rollover car accident occurred in the El Centro area on Thursday.
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as a 22-year-old man was traveling on Old Highway 101 when his car drifted off the side of the road for unknown reasons.
The driver then tried to get the car back on the roadway, but the car flipped and rolled over as a result. The 20-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle while it was rolling. The car then flipped onto the woman that was ejected and the driver got out immediately after in order to assist the woman.
The woman was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in order to be treated for major chest and head injuries. Officials have said that neither the woman or man were wearing safety buckles when the accident occurred.
